The Happenings Out West

It has been an amazing few months out here in Big Sky Country. We made it through a wonderful June and July that gave us plenty of memorable trips out to the river!

Yellowstone RIVER FISHING REPORT

The Yellowstone River has been host of some of the most epic hopper fishing this year. With lots of rain over the spring and summer, we have tall grass and bugs everywhere!

River flows have been hanging out around the 2,000cfs mark near Livingston, making the Yellowstone a prime option for fishing. It has really started to clear up over this last week after a few plugs moving through from rain in the park and has provided great nymphing and...Read More

Our Guide School

Even with the summer nearing its end, there is still time to pursue your dream of becoming a professional fly fishing guide. Here at Gallatin River Guides, we are proud to offer a Guide School that teaches avid anglers the business of guiding, guide and client relations, how to market yourself, the technical aspects of guiding and most importantly how to row a boat and catch more fish!

If becoming a fishing guide has been your lifelong dream or if you are just looking to elevate your fishing skills to the next level, our school is the place for that. Join us this fall, as we have two schools left this year on October 1st and October 15th.

Have You Heard About Our Summer Film Series?

This year Gallatin River Guides started a Summer Film Series to highlight a few of our favorite things that happen out West in the summertime! We currently have two episodes released of our four episode series. Our first episode follows a couple of our guides on the Madison and Gallatin River during one of the most famous hatches we experience in Southwest Montana, the Salmonfly hatch. The Salmonfly hatch is when the largest bugs in the river are flying around and the largest trout in the river are looking up and wanting to eat monster dry flies! For our second episode of the series we return to the Madison and Gallatin Rivers for some heat of the summer nymphing. Even when things start to get technical at the end of July, our rivers can be host to some wonderful fishing trips. If these sound awesome but you haven't had a chance to watch them or didn't know about them, head over to our YouTube channel and give them a watch!

Coming soon is an episode that follows a few familiar faces around the Yellowstone and Gallatin Rivers where we test our luck at fishing streamers! Soon to follow will be the fourth and final episode of the series. Be sure to follow us on our our Instagram page to stay up to date as to when new episodes are dropping!

Fishing season is not even close to being over!

As the temperatures and weather start to make us feel like summer might be over, don't think that your opportunities for some epic fly fishing adventures have passed. Our guides will be running trips all the way into the winter time and as fall approaches, some of our favorite ways to fish start to really get productive. Looking to book an epic time on the river? Contact us to get started on booking a memory you or your family won't forget!
