Over two days, Fly Fishing Team USA member and GRG guide Tyler Olrogg will break down the Euro Nymphing  technique from the ground up: rigging, rod position, drift mechanics, depth control, and the subtle adjustments that separate a good drift from a great one. You'll start in the classroom, move to the Gallatin River in the afternoon, and spend your second day working a full stretch of the Madison at Three Dollar Bridge — covering more water, more scenarios, and more fish.

This clinic is built for anglers who already know their way around a fly rod and want to add a genuinely deadly technique to their game. Small group, hands-on coaching, real water time. All skill levels welcome with prior fly fishing experience; this is technique-focused, not a beginner casting class

About Tyler

Tyler Olrogg is a member of Fly Fishing Team USA and a dedicated competitive angler, fishing at the national level since 2017. He joined the GRG family in 2021, bringing a deep, competition-honed understanding of modern nymphing techniques and trout behavior across a wide range of water. Tyler treats fly fishing as a lifelong puzzle — one that rewards curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to keep learning. He's as comfortable breaking down euro nymphing fundamentals as he is dialing in advanced presentation, and he teaches the way he fishes: practical, direct, no fluff. Off the water, you'll find him on small streams, chasing the same simple joy that got him into this sport in the first place.

Join us on the banks of the Gallatin River! During this hands-on event, you’ll improve your hatch matching knowledge by learning from professional entomologists from The Salmonfly Project.

You’ll learn about the biology of aquatic insects found on the Gallatin.

You’ll learn how to collect and identify aquatic insects, including the nymphs and adults of your favorite hatches.

You’ll learn about the life histories and behaviors of different insects and how to mimic them to catch more fish.

Please bring weather-appropriate wading gear and clothing, as this is an outdoor event!

All participants will receive a field guide of major hatches of the western US. Donations are encouraged; all donations are split between The Salmonfly Project and Gallatin River Task Force to support their local conservation efforts.
